The beta version of the iDter app includes night vision. This allows you to change your videos and live from full color to Infrared (IR) night vision. We have added a night vision toggle in the same location as the 4K resolution toggle - in your Niō settings 'Camera' options. Using this toggle will change your videos and live feed from full color mode to night vision mode.
Niō uses the lights to provide full-color video at night. Night vision is helpful in locations where the lights can't or shouldn't be on at night. This setting allows the Niō to continue making detections in a dark area. Please note that, because this feature is still in beta, we are still working on improving its accuracy.
IMPORTANT: Night vision requires certain conditions to be met to work correctly. Please review the FAQ below for more information.
If the switch is toggled ON, night vision will turn on if all of the following conditions are met:
- The ambient light (lux) reading is below a certain threshold (i.e. it has to be dark enough), and
- It maintains this setting for 30 seconds (i.e. it has to be dark enough for at least 30 seconds).
Night vision is disabled instantly when the white lights turn on, and it turns back on instantly when the white lights turn off.
Does Night Vision Work With Every Behavior?
Yes. For now, night vision will work with every Niō Behavior in the app.
Will Night Vision Turn Off Automatically?
If the switch is toggled OFF, night vision will turn off instantly, regardless of the light conditions.
What is HDR? Why is it included next to the Night Vision toggle?
High-dynamic-range (HDR) imagining is a technique used in photographic imaging to reproduce a greater range of luminosity ("brightness") than standard digital imaging. This setting is helpful if when camera images are high contrast. We recommend turning this on when the camera view appears washed out, or it's hard to make out details, both of which are more likely to happen with night vision.
